Boho Babes Own This Summer

About this time of year, every year, I start to get a little antsy for fall. Visions of chilly mornings, knitted pullovers and wool socks dance in my head... but then I take a step out my front door into the humidity and reality hits: It's still summer. 

Perpetual summer babes, I envy your love of this heat — but whether you're ready for autumn or holding on to these warm days, all of us have to make the most of our summer styles. 

Truth is, it's hard to dress for this weather and still feel like a fashionista, that's why I'm a firm believer that come August, boho babes rule the season. 

The dreamy kimonos, funky sandals and breezy maxi dresses make us forget about the thermometer rising well above 93°. Plus, they transition effortlessly into fall. 

Bohemian shirt dresses are a favorite staple of mine. They're perfect for a beach trip or a Saturday at the farmer's market, and they look amazing with colorful tights in the fall. 

Maxi dresses are a girl's best friend this time of year, layer a fringed kimono over for a night out, add a sweater and boots next month. 

Slouchy layers may seem like the slacker of boho — but pair these loose pants and this soft Piko with a chunky wedge or bootie, and it looks tré chic. Plus, the cool cotton fabrics won't trap the heat. Layer with clunky jewelry for the perfect boho look. 

And, as all boho babes know, accessories are the glue that holds an outfit together. Especially when the sun keeps funkier layers in the closet. Vibrant turquoise, chunky bangles, hats and sunnies make a statement as well as serve a purpose. 

Remember, when in doubt, go boho and you'll rule the festival. So until the days grow chillier and leaves start changing colors, I'll be over here sipping a cold-brewed coffee in my tie-dyed tunic.
